Joshua Pratchard

As Vice President of Operations at East Bay Glass, Joshua (Josh) Pratchard leads commercial glazing projects across the Bay Area from bid through completion. His work ranges from new restaurant storefronts to large-format glass replacement requiring cranes, telehandlers, engineered traffic control, and FAA coordination. Selected projects are described below.

Oakland International Airport

Replacing large glass panels at an active airport terminal required careful planning around flight operations and strict airport safety requirements. Josh prepared and secured the FAA permits, developed the crane pick plan, and authored the site safety plan. The glass was set overnight to keep the work clear of airport operations.

Curtain Wall Glass Replacement, Broadway, Downtown Oakland

This project replaced large-format curtain wall glass on a high-rise on Broadway. Each panel was rigged with a quad-cup vacuum lifter and chain falls, set by crane, and guided into position by glaziers working from multi-level scaffolding.

Josh also developed and managed the engineered traffic control plans that closed two lanes of Broadway, including the AC Transit bus lane, and rerouted traffic and transit service safely around the work zone.

Walgreens, Downtown Oakland

Large storefront glass at this downtown Walgreens was replaced using a telehandler and a quad-cup vacuum lifter. Because the store fronts a busy city plaza, the project required a logistics plan to fence off the work zone and route pedestrians safely around each lift.

KTVU Fox 2, Oakland

Tall atrium glass panel lifted with a quad-cup vacuum lifter and scissor lift at the KTVU Fox 2 building in Oakland — Replacing tall atrium glass at KTVU Fox 2.

At the KTVU Fox 2 building, tall atrium glass had to be replaced from within a tight courtyard with limited access. The team used a telehandler, a quad-cup vacuum lifter with chain falls, and scissor lifts to maneuver and set each panel safely.

North Italia, Walnut Creek

NanaWall folding bar windows and Arcadia storefront installed by East Bay Glass at North Italia in Walnut Creek — NanaWall folding windows open the bar to the patio at North Italia.

East Bay Glass installed the complete storefront package for North Italia’s Walnut Creek restaurant: an Arcadia storefront system and entry doors, including the restaurant’s signature red doors, and a NanaWall folding window system that opens the bar to the outdoor patio. Josh led the project through its January 2026 opening, coordinating with the owner, general contractor, and inspectors to keep the restaurant on schedule.

Josh’s work at East Bay Glass has also included projects for Pixar Animation Studios, the Port of Oakland, and The Cheesecake Factory in Daly City.
